“Interfaith Service Day”
JAM & ALL Interfaith members recently shared in a wonderful Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at the United Church of Christ Fort Lauderdale, which included participation by board members Rev. Opal Murray and Laura Sue, the Silver Nightingale.
The December event for JAM & ALL was an Interfaith Service Day on Friday, December 1st to pack Hope Totes for the Pompano Beach Shelter in collaboration with the Pink Ladies, the service arm of the Margate Mosque, Masjid Jamaat Al’ Mu-Mineen (MJAM).
The assembly of the Hope Totes took place beginning at 6:00pm on December 1st at the Margate Mosque (MJAM). Items for donation included toothbrush (boxed), toothpaste, deodorant, body lotion, hand sanitizers, sanitary pads, baby wipes and socks (new in package). Travel-size items were recommended, and they were brought to the mosque at 6:00pm at the time of assembly or dropped off earlier in the day between 12 noon to 3:00pm on Friday. The Pink Ladies delivered the completed Hope Totes to the Pompano Beach Shelter on Sunday, December 3.
MJAM has been an interfaith partner of JAM & ALL for the past twenty years. They hosted a Peaceful Pairing group with Temple Beth Orr for many years and always invite JAM members to celebrate an interfaith Iftar during Ramadan. The president of the MJAM Pink Ladies, Sofiya Deen, is an active member of the JAM & ALL Interfaith Board of Directors.
Masjid Jamaat Al’ Mu-Mineen (MJAM) is located at 3222 Holiday Springs Blvd, Margate FL 33063. Any questions, please contact Sofiya Deen at 954-600-6848 or Kathy Leonard at 561-289-4621.
